2025 Cruising Season Northbound

April 2025

April 15 – Underway from Apex Marina, Stuart FL, anchored Vero Beach.

               April 18– Engine would not start.  Cross connected batteries and got underway from Vero Beach Anchorage

               April 17-20 Moored Halifax River Marina, Daytona, FL.  I was feeling unwell and gaining weight rapidly.

Hospitalization

               April 21 Underway from Halifax River Marina.  Arrived St. Augustine City Marina.  Went immediately. to Urgent Care and then to the emergency room at Flagler Hospital.  Spent the next week in the hospital.  Acute heart failure and aorta stenosis.  Heart valve replacement required.  Reduction of fluid retention required before operation on May 22.

               April 28 Released from hospital, but required additional week of hospitalization to further reduce fluid retention.  Underwent ballon treatment to improve valve mechanics.

               May 22 Aorta valve replaced

               June 25 Released by the doctors to continue our journey

  Continuing Northbound

               June 27 —  Underway from St. Augustine, arrived at Fernandina Beach City Marina.  Remained at Fernandina Marina on June 28. Refueled (260 gal)

               June 28 – Underway from Fernandina Beach.  Arrive at Golden Isles Marina, St. Simon.

               June 29 – Underway from St. Simon with the following stops:

                              Thunderbolt, GA on June 29

                              Beaufort SC on Jul y 1

                              Charleston, SC on July 2

                              Heritage Plantation on July 3-7

                                             Refueled at Wacca Wachee (247 gal, $732) on July 7

                              Myrtle Beach on July 7

                              South Village Harbor Marina, Southport NC on July 8, staying until July 10.

                              Bridge Tender Marina, Wrightsville, NC on July 11

                              Swansboro, NC on July 12

                              Oriental, NC on July 13, staying through July 14] 

                              Dowry Creek Marina on July 15

                              Coinjock on July 16

                              Bluewater Marina, Hampton VA on July 17.  Remaining through July 19.

                              Fishing Bay on July 19.  Refueled (67 gal, $263).  Remained through July 21

                              Solomons on July 21.  Conducted full power trial enroute, but was limited to 2400 RPM on port engine

                              Herrington Harbor North on July 22.  2024-2024 Cruising Season completed
